Led by playwright and artist Aidli Mosbit, Tua-Tua Kelapa was a Community Arts Project that provided a platform for an inter-generational creative writing experience that brought together seniors and youths to explore different Malay literary genres including scriptwriting, quatrains, lyrics writing and poems.
Through this 8-session workshop, participants were given an insight about writing and the processes that a writer goes through in creating a craft. By experience through a "hands-on" approach, they were guided by established names in the local Malay literary scene through the writing process from research, devising, writing, work-sharing, constructive critique and performative reading
By deconstructing the many Malay idioms, and questioning their relevance in the present lives of the participants, the process created meaningful engagement for generations across different demographics to connect with and learn from one another through the arts.
